Sandy is a wife, mother, former teacher, business-marketing professional, and an active leader in her community.
Sandy was a sixth-grade public school teacher before transitioning into the business world during the high-tech boom. After the birth of her first child, Sandy became a stay-at-home mom.
Sandy is passionate about giving back to her community and has actively volunteered with a variety of nonprofit organizations in Texas and Virginia for over three decades. Sandy gained valuable leadership training and experience through organizations like the Junior League, Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity, Austin Smiles, and Powhatan Lions Club.
After moving to Virginia from Texas in 2007, Sandy served as a National Officer with Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity from 2009-2013 where she oversaw the operations of collegiate chapters at UVA, VT, ODU, JMU, CNU, and Radford. In 2014, Sandy was appointed to serve on the Steering Committee for the Powhatan County Public Schools Facility Study that successfully proposed a plan to build a new middle school in Powhatan County. Sandy also served as President of the Powhatan Middle School Parent Teacher Organization, a 501(c)(3) organization, from 2015 to 2017.
Sandy holds a BS in Education with a minor in English from Texas Tech University, a MS in Global Leadership from Duquesne University, and is expecting to complete work on a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership though Liberty University’s School of Business in 2023.
Sandy met her husband, Lane, at Texas Tech University and they have been happily married since 1994. They have four children and live in Powhatan, Virginia. Sandy and Lane are active members of the Powhatan Lions Club and enjoy supporting philanthropic initiatives that strive to help improve the lives of others.
